So I’m sharing with you all these same three simple steps I share with clients to help you improve your LinkedIn profile. Check out the video too for more detail.
- Utilize Custom Links
Want to share more than just your business website on LinkedIn? You can include additional websites for people to connect with you outside LinkedIn under your contact info section. Think about adding your blog, link to mailing list , Instagram profile or Facebook Fan Page in this section. My favorite part about this feature is that you have the ability to customize the titles for these links.
For example the link to my business website is title “Work With Me” and the link to my landing page for my upcoming book is title “Live Extraordinary”. Make sure it’s a compelling and clear title.
2. Insert Media
Recently gave a presentation at a conference? Have video of your latest speaking engagement? You can add links to videos, photos, files and presentations under each of your work positions. This is a great place to even add a media kit or a direct link to your latest product offering, webinar or live event. I love that presentations and videos will play directly on the LinkedIn site within your profile instead of linking outside in a new browser. Update these on a regular basis to keep your profile fresh and up to date.
3. Ask for recommendations
The easiest way to establish your credibility as a thought leader and expert is by gathering testimonials from past clients and vendors. People want to do business with people they know, like and trust. The recommendations feature within LinkedIn allows you to request a testimonial for your current LinkedIn contacts to showcase on your profile. Your profile will stand out and can help to secure a speaking engagement or new client quicker than expected.
